Later, continue to New Delhi, the neighbouring district built by the British after King George V announced the transfer of the capital from Calcutta to Delhi. Visit Gandhi Smitri (closed on Mondays), the residence-turned-museum and last resting place of Mahatma Gandhi before he was assassinated in 1948.

Afterwards, continue to Jaipur and visit the Laxmi Narayan Temple upon arrival. One of Jaipur's most elegant landmarks, it is built entirely of white marble. Unlike traditional temple, this one features carvings of philosophers, scientists and religious icons from all faiths, symbolising unity.

Day 8
In Varanasi
Early this morning, set off on a boat ride on the Ganges, followed by a tour of the city. There is no Indian attraction like Varanasi. There are no architectural splendors, no exquisitely carved palaces or impregnable forts, and yet the city has an inherent charm.
After disembarking, visit the Kashi-Vishwanath Temple, also known as the Golden Temple. This is the most sacred of all shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, the presiding deity of the city. Continue to Bharat Mata Mandir, opened by Mahatma Gandhi, which houses a perfect relief map of India carved out of marble instead of gods and goddesses. Return to hotel for breakfast and spend some time at your own leisure.
Later in the afternoon, make a visit to Sarnath, an important Buddhist centre located about 10km away from Varanasi. It is believed to be the site where Buddha had preached his first sermon, and till today is considered a revered pilgrimage destination by Buddhists worldwide.

Within the Park, tigers roam through dry deciduous forest and swim in lakes ornamented with the crumbling remains of regal hunting pavilions. Aside from tigers, a whole cast of predators and preys such as leopards, hynenas, wild dogs, Indian gazelles, wildfowl and crocodiles may also be spotted.

A: The best time to visit the Golden Triangle is during the cooler months of October to March. For those extending to Varanasi, it is recommended to plan your visit between November to March when temperatures are great for morning boat rides along the Ganges and evening aarti ceremonies. For those planning an extension to Ranthambore, December to March may have relatively better tiger sightings due to comfortable afternoon sun for basking. (Note: peak season for tiger sightings actually fall during the summer months when the heat drives animals to frequent waterholes, making them easier to spot.
